Paul Hart Cello 1983
Length of back 748mm
Full Description
A beautifully made cello by Paul Hart made in 1983 patterned after a cello by 18th century Florentine luthier Giovanni Battista Gabrielli. This smaller patterned cello with a back length of 748mm is comfortable to play for cellists looking for a smaller cello but not necessarily wanting a 7/8 size cello.
Luthier Paul Hart has been creating high-quality instruments since the 1960s. Hart developed a passion for violin-making at an early age and taught himself the basics of lutherie, eventually earning a position at Peter Prier Violins in 1969. He joined the faculty of the Violin Making School of America in 1974 before opening his own workshop, Paul Hart Violins, in Utah in 1978.
Hart’s artistry has been recognized with multiple awards, including two Gold Medals from the Violin Society of America. As a teacher, Hart has trained some of the best modern American luthiers, including Tom Croen, Damon Gray, David Gusset, Amos Hargrave, Guy Rabut, and Benjamin Ruth.
