Dolce Violins

Dolce Violins Spotlight: The Eastman Violin

At Dolce Violins we feature many instruments from Eastman strings, one of our prefered brands. The Eastman violins we carry possess the sound qualities that we seek for our customers. The warmth, depth of tone, and even response across all four strings makes the Eastman violin an excellent student violin.

Violin teachers and their students have found the Eastman violins we carry compare favorably to antique violins at twice their price. It’s quite difficult to find stringed instruments at comparable prices with this level of quality workmanship.

Although Eastman is a modern brand with a large product line, the Eastman Strings workshop, located near Beijing, operates in a manner akin to the 19th-century European workshop tradition. Their makers still use handheld chisels, knives, and scrapers, to do all of the woodworking, the multi-layer varnish is brushed on by hand using centuries-old European methods. As a result, the Eastman violin has a level of quality only achieved in instruments made by hand, all at an attractive price.

In addition to Eastman’s quality control process, our team of musicians only selects the cream of the crop, choosing which Eastman instruments to carry here at Dolce only after numerous playtests. Sometimes we pick only 1 instrument out of 10 to add to our collection.
