This German cello, dating from approximately 1915, is built on a Stainer model pattern, reflecting the continued influence of Jacob Stainer’s design in early 20th-century German workshops.

The instrument features a carved spruce top and a two-piece maple back with pronounced horizontal flame. The ribs and scroll are of similarly flamed maple. It is finished in a warm amber-brown varnish over a golden ground, showing natural patina consistent with age.

Characteristic elements of the Stainer model include a fuller arching profile and elegant outline, both visible in this example.
