A Note from Moses Sedler – Cellist, and Dolce Violins Managing Director
I played this cello made by Arie Werbrouck at a Violin Society of America violin making competition and I immediately fell in love with it.
Some wonderful attributes of this cello are its amazing depth of tone, its powerful C string that speaks with authority and a beautiful A string that sings with a very expressive range. This cello is highly responsive with the sound practically jumping out of the instrument. Arie has enhanced the excellent wood he selected for this instrument with a bold and creative varnish style.
Arie is a young maker to watch. He won a silver medal (for tone) at the 2018 VSA convention for a violin he made. Why this cello didn’t sweep the awards at that same convention is beyond me. The good news for you as a potential buyer is that since this cello slipped under the radar, it’s available at Dolce Violins at what I believe is an incredible price. If you’re interested, I encourage you to come into the shop and try it out.
