Full Description
Franco Capponi (b. 1947, Rome) is an Italian violin maker known for his refined craftsmanship and warm, resonant tone. Trained in restoration before establishing his workshop in Rome in the 1970s, Capponi works in the classical Cremonese style, often following Stradivari and Guarneri models. His violins from around 1980 show a mature style with elegant arching, precise workmanship, and a luminous orange-brown varnish typical of the modern Roman school.
