Full Description

François Nicolas Voirin (1833–1885) was a leading figure in 19th-century French bow making. Born in Mirecourt and trained in the Paris workshop of Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, Voirin is widely regarded as a transitional maker between the Tourte tradition, represented by figures such as Dominique Peccatte, and the later Parisian bow style of the late 19th century. His work influenced subsequent generations of French bow makers, including Joseph Alfred Lamy, and forms part of the historical lineage leading to the standardized French violin bows of the early 20th century.
