Georges Mougenot Violin – Bruxelles 1897
SOLD
Full Description
Georges Mougenot (1843–1931) was a respected Belgian violin maker based in Brussels. A student of Nicolas François Vuillaume (brother of J.B. Vuillaume), Mougenot carried forward the French–Belgian tradition of violin making. His shop produced instruments both under his own name and in collaboration with other skilled makers of the time, often modeled after Stradivari and Guarneri patterns.
Known for their elegant workmanship, fine varnish, and clear, projecting tone, Mougenot’s violins represent an important link between the great French schools of the 19th century and the thriving Belgian violin-making tradition.
