Dolce Violins

Full Description

This violin was made in Germany around 1800 and reflects the traditional construction of that era: a two-piece spruce top, two-piece maple back, and varnish in a warm reddish-brown tone that has developed natural patina over two centuries. The hand-cut scroll shows the asymmetry and toolwork associated with early German craftsmanship rather than later factory production.

Inside the instrument are two repair labels: a printed label from A.E. Fischer of Bremen, a well-known 19th- and 20th-century German violin shop, and an additional handwritten repair inscription. These document the violin’s restoration history but do not identify the original maker.

With its classic regional features—upright f-holes, rounded edges, and period arching—this violin is a representative example of early 19th-century German work.
