Full Description
A violin by the masterful duo of Joseph Grubaugh and Sigrun Seifert, inspired by the work of Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesu from the period of around 1740.
Joseph Grubaugh and Sigrun Seifert are partners in violinmaking and in life. This husband and wife team have been working together for over four decades, and their instruments have received international acclaim. In recognition of their superior tone and workmanship, which garnered them five gold medals and four silver medals in Violin Society of America competitions, Grubaugh and Seifert joined an elite group of violinmakers, the VSA Hors Concours, in 1998.
Grubaugh and Seifert’s violins are informed by Baroque Italian traditions. Through restoring instruments by Cremonese masters, they have learned everything about these historical models, both inside and out. As a violinmaking team, Grubaugh and Seifert also draw on the rich tradition of collaboration within the Cremonese violin-making dynasties, like the Stradivari and Guarneri families. Grubaugh and Seifert pride themselves on using centuries-old woodworking and varnishing techniques, producing modern violins that are truly worthy of their place in music history.
