H.R. Pfretzschner was a prominent German bow maker from Markneukirchen, active in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Pfretzschner family workshop, founded by Hermann Richard Pfretzschner (1857–1921), was among the most respected in Germany and held the title of Purveyor to the Royal Saxon Court. Trained under Jean Baptiste Vuillaume in Paris, Pfretzschner brought refined French influence to German bow making, producing elegant, well-balanced bows with meticulous craftsmanship.
