Dolce Violins

Full Description

John Kew Dodd was a leading English bow maker active in London from the late eighteenth century into the early nineteenth century. Born in 1752, he worked during the important transitional period between Baroque bows and the emerging Tourte model, and is regarded as a central figure in the early English school of bow making.

Dodd supplied bows to prominent London makers and dealers, including members of the Forster family. His surviving bows—often unstamped—reflect the evolving standards of construction and proportion that shaped the modern bow.
