Marco Imer Piccinotti
Italian luthier Marco Imer Piccinotti (b. 1962) combines Baroque artistry with modern sensibilities to create unique instruments sought after by soloists, chamber musicians and orchestral musicians alike. He has studied the works of Amati, Guarneri, and Stradivari extensively, and he is also heavily influenced by the contemporary Italian makers, including the Antoniazzi family, Fagnola, Garimberti, Ornati, and Poggi.
Piccinotti’s instruments have garnered wide acclaim for their warmth, responsiveness, and power. His accolades include the award for best sound (1989), CCIAA (1993), and bronze medal (1995) from the Baveno Competition, the bronze model from the Bagnacavallo Young Violin Maker’s Competition (1995), the award for best style and character from the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition (1995), and the diploma and medal of excellence in Modena (2003).
