Full Description
Originally from Norway, Mathias Dahl (1888-1973) was a violin making prodigy; he made his first violin at the age of seven. However, he didn’t begin formal training until after he immigrated to the US. Dahl apprenticed under H.P. Blakkestead in Minneapolis and went on to work for the Blakkestead Music Company before setting up his own workshop. Dahl’s work is characterized by very precise woodworking and attractive golden amber varnish.
