Full Description
A French cello attributed to J. Olry of Amiens.
J. Olry was a 19th-century French violin maker active in Amiens, in the Picardy region of northern France. Little is known about his personal life, but period references and surviving instruments suggest that he worked from around 1825 to the mid-1850s, producing violins and other string instruments that reflect the stylistic influence of the Parisian school, particularly that of Georges Chanot, with whom Olry is said to have studied.
