A fine gold mounted cello bow from Swiss bow maker Siegfried Finkel. Made in the 1960’s in Brienz Switzerland.
Siegfried Finkel (1927–2010) was a renowned bow maker from Markneukirchen, Germany, a town famous for its instrument craftsmanship. He trained under his father-in-law, Paul Weidhaas, before relocating to Brienz, Switzerland, in 1952, where he established his own workshop. His bows, influenced by the French masters, became highly regarded for their balance and precision.
His son, Johannes Siegfried Finkel (b. 1947), continued the family legacy, refining his skills with prestigious firms before taking over the workshop in 1984. The Finkel name remains synonymous with excellence, blending tradition with innovation in the art of bow making.
