Full Description
Cesare Magrini, born in 1958, is an esteemed Italian violin maker known for his refined craftsmanship within the Bolognese tradition. He began his apprenticeship in the mid-1970s under his uncle, Primo Contavalli, a distinguished luthier from Imola. Further developing his expertise, he trained with renowned makers such as Otello Bignami and Ansaldo Poggi in Bologna, Mario Capicchioni in Rimini, and Giuseppe Lucci in Rome. In 1986, he became a member of the National Association of Italian Artistic Violinmaking (A.N.L.A.I.), later serving on its board of experts under Lucci’s guidance. Magrini’s instruments reflect the influence of the great masters of the Bolognese and Emilian schools, including Pollastri, Fiorini, and Poggi, blending traditional techniques with his own meticulous approach to violin making.
