Full Description
Albert Knorr (1876 – 1939) the elder brother of Paul Knorr studied with Max Dölling before establishing his independent workshop in Markneukirchen. This violin, a beautifully executed copy of Stradivarius, has all of the qualities we love in finely made violins from Markneukirchen. Excellent quality tonewoods, very precise woodworking, expertly inlaid purfling, and a reddish brown varnish over a golden ground all show Knorr’s expertise. Although Albert Knorr violins do not fetch as high selling prices as his brother Paul, Albert’s work is of excellent quality, and this particular violin has a wonderful open sound, is easy to play and has a depth of tone sought after in violins of much higher value.
