Paul C. Becker is the lead luthier and current owner of the famous Carl Becker & Son workshop in Chicago. Paul is the 5th generation to continue his family’s violin making legacy, having learned the craft from his grandfather Carl G. Becker and his father Carl F. Becker (perhaps most well-known for restoring the Stradivarius “Lady Blunt” violin). Paul has worked in his father’s shop since he was 14 years old and now leads his own team of luthiers. Continuing his father’s vision, Paul blends cutting edge technology with handcrafted work in order to produce instruments that are still up to the Becker standard but more affordable and therefore more accessible to a wide range of players.
