Dolce Violins Brand Spotlight: Eastman Strings

Eastman Strings – One of the best modern violin brands.

Eastman Strings is one of our favorite brands at Dolce Violins. The modern incarnation of the famed nineteenth century German workshops, Eastman Strings offers an excellent quality-to-affordability ratio in each of their products. This company combines all of the craftsmanship of a master luthier with the affordability of a large-scale brand.

The founder of Eastman Strings

Qian Ni, a Chinese flautist, founded Eastman Strings in 1992 after graduating from Boston University’s School of Music. Although Eastman Strings takes advantage of modern techniques, their workshop still carries on centuries-old traditions. Eastman Strings craftsmen use handheld chisels, knives, and scrapers to create their line of violins, violas, cellos, and basses.

As a result, Eastman instruments have the exquisite tone and playability that can only be found in handcrafted instruments, all at a competitive price point. While other students may be struggling to learn on mass-produced instruments, Eastman Strings allows beginner and intermediate musicians to experience the one-of-a-kind sensation of playing a quality, hand-crafted instrument without investing $10,000 in a professional model.

Eastman String’s excellence has been recognized by more than just Dolce Violins. The brand frequently collaborates with major figures in the string instrument industry, from Neyla Pekarek (formerly of The Lumineers) and Joe Kwon (The Avett Brothers) to pop violinist Ada Pasternak and more.

Dolce Violins has a longstanding partnership with Eastman Strings, and we are proud to carry their products. Every Eastman violin, viola, cello, and bass in our inventory is handpicked and play-tested by our expert staff to guarantee quality.
