The Eastman Pietro Lombardi is a workshop-made cello in Eastman’s “Model 500” series, crafted with a higher grade of tonewood and more detailed handwork than their entry-level models. Built on a Montagnana-inspired pattern, the instrument features broader lower bouts and a slightly shorter body length typical of this model type. The cello is made with a select, hand-carved spruce top and a highly figured maple back, ribs, and scroll, finished with a hand-applied spirit varnish in a warm, antiqued style.
